Chunky like Neal Stephenson's Quicksilver . I've shied away from John Birmingham's Weapons of Choice (The Axis of Time Trilogy, Book 1) for ages. Having said that I don't dislike the books, they are alt-history/alt reality guff, but enjoyable guff nonetheless. It's always staring at me on theshelf in the bookstore. A trilogy of Alternate History novels by John Birmingham about a Multinational Task Force from 2021 sent to oust an Indonesian Islamofascist movement getting sent by Negative Space Wedgie to 1942, just off the coast of Midway, where the bulk of the fleet accidentally ends . Dunno about how Islam feels about poofters but I know Tim and the mods get trigger happy every time I use the descriptive “pooffo pinko”.
